Job Summary:
This position provides organizational leadership, planning, operational direction, and business development. The General Foreman will assign work priorities, develop job plans, define parts and materials, and engage the appropriately trained resources to execute a safe and efficient project with maximum productivity and a high degree of customer satisfaction.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is accountable for the effective planning and scheduling of all project resources and team members.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Safety
- Each day, review all Job Site Analysis (JSA) for crews working in your area and provide feedback.
- Conduct safety briefings with all crews (including subcontractors) working in assigned areas.
- Perform weekly Job Site Observation (JSO) for crews and subcontractors.
- Financial
- Review crew timesheets each morning for accuracy of billing units.
- Assure subcontractor daily submissions - units and redline are being submitted each day.
- Create and submit accurate redlines of all work performed by crews.
- Track, request, and gain written approval for all change orders (including subcontractors) from customer.
- Management/Oversight
- Daily logs are updated to reflect all work (including subcontractors) and submitted to customers daily.
- Escalations are handled and appropriate customer response is provided within 24 hours.
- Prioritization of work to assure deadlines are met.
- Managing Customer/Vendor/Subcontractor
- Managing Job Productivity
- Crew (including subcontractors)
- Quality Inspections (documentation)
- Management of all necessary restoration (schedule, inspection, change orders)
- Workload prioritization
- Permit Management - Open, close, and schedule all inspections as required by permit.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with customers to develop and maintain long-term relationships.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and provide a clean MVR.
- Demonstrated organization, planning, and scheduling skills in a field project environment.
- Knowledge of standard industry practices, work orders, and scheduling processes.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary to assess technical problems, estimate work hours, and identify required materials.
- Should have good written and verbal communication skills, must be approachable and tactful.
- Personal computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and project planning software.
Education and Experience:
- 5 years of experience in the field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience supervising a crew.
- A combination of formal education at accredited learning institutions, military training or technical trade school, and practical industry field experience.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret general construction drawings and specifications, as well as construction means, methods, and materials.
- Knowledge of construction cost control and basic processes and procedures.
- Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds at a time.
- May require travel.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
- Must be on call to address delays, emergencies, harsh weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
