POSITION SUMMARY
Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care’s (Thrive SPC) purpose is simple, to provide high quality clinical home care to medically fragile children so they can grow and flourish to their full potential. The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) is a licensed graduate of an accredited OTA school and is licensed by the state in which they practice. OTAs administer skilled care to clients requiring intermittent professional services and teach the client, family and other members of the health care team. These services are performed in accordance with the physician’s orders and the established plan of care, under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Occupational Therapist.
HIRING REQUIREMENTS
- Must have graduated from an accredited OTA school and licensed in the state in which he/she currently practices.
- Current CPR certification
- At least one-year experience in occupational therapy (pediatric preferred, not required)
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and required automobile insurance.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform client visits in a timely, professional, and appropriate manner per standards of care. Ensure in-home visit time fully meets the needs of the patient.
- Complete all appropriate documentation and submit timely per protocols, policies and procedures.
- Contact the supervising OT immediately regarding patient changes, and/or needs
- Review and verify schedules weekly to ensure all scheduled visits are accurate. Ensure all therapy services are documented properly and appropriately.
- Review the updated Plan of Treatment before resuming ordered treatments
- Complete any required documentation on approved systems and/or forms.
- Cooperate and assist other healthcare-related agencies providing or assuming health care services to enhance continuity of care.
- Ensure that missed patient visits are documented and re-scheduled within allowable timelines to adhere to the patient’s plan of treatment.
- Participate in staff development meetings and in-services.
- Participate in and document case conferencing and coordination of care ensuring appropriate care and consideration of need for continuation or discharge.
- Assist in planning, operation and evaluation of therapy / nursing services by providing feedback as requested.
- Adhere to and participate in the Agency’s mandatory HIPAA/Privacy Program and Employee Compliance Program.
- Participate in supervisory visits in a timely manner as required for Occupational Therapy Assistants to ensure appropriate service provision and compliance to all State and Federal regulations.
- Obtain continuing education to improve care by broadening knowledge of changes in health care delivery and to meet any licensure requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Travel by car to visits required.

Physical Demands:
- Travel to other branch offices, parent office and/or client's homes
- Manual dexterity to operate patient care equipment.
- Operate office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, printers and/or copiers.
- Visual acuity to evaluate and peruse employee documentation.
- Continually required to stand, walk, and sit.
