Our organization is currently seeking a Project Manager to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA office or Howell, MI in a hybrid flex work arrangement.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:
 

The position offers the opportunity to partner PL wide with multiple business work streams including but not limited to: operations, strategy, underwriting, innovation, and technology at the Hanover while leading a cross-functional team delivering on a variety of projects. As a member of the team, you are expected to lead the execution and delivery of a wide variety of operational projects that intersection with technology and strategy while collaborating with business partners to advance the organization. You are methodical, have excellent communication and time management skills – and can utilize those skills effectively across various business units. 


Ultimately, the Project Manager 
is responsible for managing a wide range of projects of varying complexity. 


With your solid blend of project management, communication, change management and business facing skills, you will successfully partner with areas across the enterprise to lead delivery of projects in operations. 


IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Lead complex projects and has accountability for the estimating, planning, scheduling, tracking, management of risk, budget, change management, problem resolution, reporting and communicating
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously that may include application development, vendor-based software implementations, infrastructure changes, process development, tool selection or multiple combinations of each
  • Have the ability to guide and direct team members and subject matter experts through design, development and deployment of solutions in operations inclusive of change management planning
  • Have strong project plan management experience including work breakdown structures, milestones, dependencies and identification of critical path
  • Manage project outcomes to ensure implementations are fit for use and purpose and support long term goals and objectives
  • Manage interdependencies within their projects
  • Provide transparency and reporting to overall governance and steering structure
  • Lead the interaction with operational business partners, project team members, process team, learning and development, IT, strategy, under writing and external vendors to ensure clarity of the business problem, outcome and scope and ensures issues and risks are understood and resolved.
  • Be responsible for building team alignment, encouraging team effort and successes, embracing continuous performance improvement through coaching, modeling the way, and developing followership through his/her daily interactions with the team.
  • Solicits and applies standards and best practices as defined by the project management Center of Excellence (Coe), the Project Management Office (PMO) and operational best practices.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: 

  • 3-5+ Years of related experience with project & program delivery (Waterfall, Agile or Iterative, Hybrid)
  • Bachelor’s degree with a preference for business or related field
  • Familiarization with project management tools such as MS Project, Planview or equivalent project management software.
  • Strong Business Acumen; insurance industry knowledge preferred.
  • Strong relationship management skills – Ability to effectively collaborate across multiple business units and all levels of from entry level to senior leadership and to foster strong relationships with them to aid successful project delivery
  • Strong ability to think critically, connect dots and build integrated plans that include aggressive timelines, clear deliverables, risk identification and mitigation plans, and integrated change management plans.
  • Someone with an agile mindset with a bias for proactive planning
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership skills that deliver results and align with our CARE values
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to craft audience specific messages.
