Our Risk Solutions team is currently seeking an AVP of Technical Solutions to join our growing team in Worcester, MA. This is a full time, exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position is a member of the Risk Solutions senior leadership team reporting to VP of Risk Solutions and Premium Audit. The AVP of Technical Solutions is responsible overseeing strategic development and implementation of Risk Solutions plans to address industry and line of business new business and profit goals. This is achieved through direct partnership with business unit leadership and leading a team of technical staff.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Partnership with senior business unit leadership to assist in development and implementation of the risk solutions strategy related to the survey and service approach.
- Driving generation and implementation of innovation solutions related to tech enabled risk mitigation. This includes ownership of the product life cycle from proof of concept, pilot to implementation. Solutions include management of the aerial imagery/drone program, IOT and Artificial Intelligence enhanced solutions.
- Oversee development, ownership and maintenance of Risk Solutions internal staff resources that include content management system for training modules and technical reference materials.
- Oversee development and maintenance of Risk Solutions external resources (agent and customer) that includes ownership of the Risk Solutions website, on-line tools and 3rd party partners.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of the risk solutions department best practices.
- Participate in strategic workforce planning and oversee various staff certification programs.
- Participate in operational reviews and contribute to ongoing process improvement.
- Own technical specialist process which includes specialist program framework and field execution strategy for completion of complex account surveys, referrals, training, and quality reviews.
- Oversee initiatives related to new business growth and profit improvement.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Leads through empowerment of their technical team to generate strategic initiatives.
- Collaboration with Business Unit Leadership in Commercial, Specialty and Personal lines, Corporate Line of Business Underwriting, in development of business unit strategy.
- Partnership with claim, data and analytics, legal, reinsurance, information technology for mutual support and guidance.
- Collaboration with the Field Operations Leaders to ensure RS field staff possess technical skillset necessary for risk assessment and service.
- Partnership with the marketing department in development and implementation of industry specific marketing campaigns.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- Ten plus years Underwriting/Loss Control experience with a national insurance carrier.
- Five plus years’ experience in a management/leadership role.
- Superior analytical & problem-solving skills.
- Aptitude for numerical and/or financial evaluation of business performance.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment on multiple projects, tasks or assignments.
- Results oriented.
- Superior communication skills, both oral & written.
- Motivated self-starter with demonstrated initiative; ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to deal confidently with all levels of the organization, including senior executives in Home Office, field managers and field underwriter.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel as necessary
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
