Sr Business Systems Analyst

Our IT Department is currently seeking a Sr Business Systems Analyst to join our growing team. This position is hybrid out our Worcester, MA location or remote. This is a full time, exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for an advanced business system analyst with the desire to join a dynamic team managing systems that support business outcomes for our Enterprise space. The Business System Analyst is responsible for the collection, development, analysis, documentation, and communication of business needs and requirements. Throughout an assignment, the Business Analyst will interface and work collaboratively with both technology and the business organization assessing the needs of the assignment by directly interacting with management, leadership, technology, the business, and the customer. The Business System Analyst looks for opportunities to develop and grow the business through effective use of technology taking a broad perspective to determine how solutions will impact existing work processes and systems, and how to manage the integration.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Support data management efforts, from source through integration, understanding data transformation over time, data mapping and/or analysis and mapping 3rd party data sources.
- Ensure data integrity and quality for the data within the organization.
- Profile data to understand data anomalies and data quality issues.
- Serves as a project team member for projects of medium to large scope and moderate complexity, or sub-projects within a large or highly complex project.
- Participate in project planning from requirements through design, testing, implementation, and maintenance.
- Responsible for the collection, analysis, and documentation of business and/or technical requirements, which may include, leading planning sessions with business partners to improve a business process or products within the department.
- Providing technical expertise across the Enterprise technology business unit, understanding the relationship between the business and the data and technology that supports the business.
- Collaborates with all relevant parties by demonstrating knowledge of the business technical systems and providing timely and accurate information between the business partner and the information technology organization. This includes ad-hoc data requests/analysis, user support, etc.
- Assessing needs to identify business priorities and advise business partners on options and technical limitations.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
- Recommended 3-5 years of relevant work experience, internships included.
- P&C Insurance experience required.
- Quantitative background required.
- Advanced understanding of data warehousing concepts, architectures, and processes.
- Strong experience with data mapping, data warehousing and enterprise warehousing including understanding and using relational and dimensional database structures.
- Advanced understanding of mapping data attributes from existing sources to the target reporting data models; identify gaps between the target reporting data model and the required attributes identified by business users, and articulate data derivation or transformation rules in business terminology. Understanding mapping Xpaths, reading XML, and updating and governing reference data.
- Working knowledge of insurance data in warehouses, a plus but not required.
- Experience writing and executing SQL queries.
- Understanding of extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) concepts.
- Experience using business intelligence software, including the construction of reports based on warehouse data.
- Adept in desktop applications and software tools.
- Experience being a liaison between technical and business teams (Data Steward, Data Architects, and Software Engineers).
- Strong experience analyzing and documenting data requirements to create specifications, utilize storyboarding and prototyping to assist with the design of integrated solutions.
