Job Description
Theisen’s Senior IT Director is a high-level leadership role responsible for directing the organization's entire IT function, aligning information technology strategy with business objectives, and driving innovation to support growth and operational excellence. This position ensures the security, efficiency, and scalability of the company’s technology infrastructure while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. The Senior IT Director partners with executive leadership to shape the organization's technological future and directly manages a team of IT professionals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA is highly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, with preference given to experience in a retail or consumer goods environment.
- Proven success in aligning IT strategy with business objectives and delivering measurable results.
- Deep technical knowledge of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure along with expertise in enterprise data management.
- Competence in technical project management and IT governance frameworks.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in managing complex budgets and evaluating IT investments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with exceptional leadership and decision-making skills.
- A strategic thinker who is proactive and effective at planning ahead.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with the company’s vision and long-term goals.
- Provide leadership for IT innovation, ensuring emerging technologies are evaluated and implemented appropriately.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to drive digital transformation initiatives.
IT Operations Oversight
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, applications, and systems.
- Ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable IT services to support critical business operations.
- Establish and enforce IT governance frameworks, policies, and best practices.
Enterprise Data Management (EDM)
- Create and manage strategies for the organization's data across its entire lifecycle to ensure accuracy, consistency, and security.
- Identify and deploy BI tools and systems, including data warehousing, visualization, reporting, and dashboarding tools.
- Partner with the business to provide the information necessary for effective and timely decision-making.
Technical Project Management
- Direct the technical project management function, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of IT projects.
- Develop and establish strategic project management methodologies, quality standards, and deliverables.
- Guide the development of technical estimates, work plans, and resource allocation.
- Remove obstacles, negotiate with stakeholders, and mitigate risks in project execution.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT leadership team and staff.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the IT department.
- Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, and retention to ensure the IT team meets evolving organizational needs.
Cybersecurity and Risk Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies to safeguard company assets and sensitive data.
- Monitor and mitigate risks related to IT operations, compliance, and security threats.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and industry standards, including data privacy laws.
Budgeting and Vendor Management
- Develop and manage the IT department’s budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Measure and report on the ROI of IT investments and initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with external IT vendors, negotiate contracts, and evaluate third-party services for value and performance.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the development of solutions that improve efficiency and drive competitive advantages.
- Analyze high-level business needs, research emerging technologies, and identify IT hardware and software solutions to support organizational goals.

- Store Environment: Occasionally performed in retail store facilities, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
- Distribution Center Environment: Performed in a warehouse or distribution center setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, loud noise levels, and moving machinery.
