Position Overview:
TRC is seeking a dynamic and strategic Vice President of Engineering and Global Operations to join our corporate leadership team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimization of our global assets to produce innovative products that align with market demands while staying ahead of technological advancements. The ideal candidate will leverage our global engineering resources to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce costs, minimize waste, and improve product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximize Global Assets:
- Ensure the efficient use of existing assets to produce products designed and manufactured for a global market across all Business lines.
- Maintain quality, design and operational alignment of products as market demands evolve and technology advances.
- Develop and deploy a strategic make-buy policy for all manufacturing goods globally. Coupled with a manufacturing strategy that manages global risk with well-defined contingency plans.
- Ensures the full adoption of TRC's ERP system (Infor LN) and maximizes its functional value across all sites well as adherence to and support for SIOP at all levels across Operations.
- Development and deployment of a World Class Manufacturing strategy including KPI's, benchmarking, Lean, OEE, and Global programs for staff development and training.
- Optimization strategy for Warehousing and Distribution.
- Key role in supporting the evaluation of potential acquisitions from an Operational perspective including capabilities, capacity and risk
- Leveraging Global Engineering Resources:
- Support and oversight for New Product Developments.
- Ownership of the process for evaluating, prioritizing and resourcing Global Engineering activity across all our sites and Business Lines.
- Ownership for Capex program, including standards for submission, evaluation, approval and deployment in line with our Global Strategic plan for growth.
- Development and deployment of an automation strategy focused on delivering cost and efficiency benefits across Operations (manufacturing, warehousing and logistics).
- Ensure that the standards of training and performance across our global engineering resource are maintained to the level required.
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Directly Manage
- Global Engineering Leader: Maintain global product and manufacturing standards, manage R&D for new products, and implement global manufacturing initiatives like Lean and 5S.
- Operations analyst: Support for the evaluation and tracking of all Engineering and Capex related projects as well as management of new product requests, registration and updates concerning IP and administration of functional training activity.
- Indirect Reports:
- Operations Leaders across all global locations, influencing and guiding them to align with TRC's corporate strategies.
- Local Engineering and Quality Assurance Teams, ensuring adherence to global standards and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Directly Manage
- Cross-Functional Influence:
- While individual locations do not report directly to this role, you will have significant indirect influence, leveraging data-driven decision-making and corporate authority to drive results.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of operational and engineering experience, with a proven track record of leadership and achievement in key metrics, both domestically and globally.
- Education: Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of global import and export complexities.
- Proven ability to build and lead teams, both with direct and indirect reports.
- Proficiency in navigating a global business environment where English may be a second language for key stakeholders.
- Experience in managing across multiple time zones.
Preferred: Experience in the automotive industry is advantageous but not required.
Additional Requirements: Must hold a valid U.S. Passport and be willing to travel internationally up to 10% of the time. This role is located in Johnstown, Ohio.
