Are you a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical or Electrical Engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment? Do you enjoy solving complex challenges and ensuring the smooth operation of critical building systems? If so, we invite you to join our Integrated Facility Maintenance Division and play a key role in supporting the maintenance operations across our network of schools and universities.
As a Facility Engineer, you will be a technical expert responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of building systems across our footprint. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, from troubleshooting HVAC issues to managing large-scale renovations, conducting facility condition assessments, and providing engineering expertise for clients. This is a challenging and rewarding role that offers the chance to make a real impact on the learning environment of our students and contribute to the success of our clients.
Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance
- Provide expert guidance on mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, power distribution, and lighting.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to maximize system lifespan and efficiency.
- Conduct thorough assessments of building systems, identify potential problems, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Collaborate with on-site maintenance teams to resolve complex issues and provide technical training.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and industry best practices.
- Partner with facility managers and school leadership to assess infrastructure needs and plan capital improvements.
- Contribute to the success of renovation and new construction projects by providing engineering expertise.
Engineering Services
- Facility Condition Assessments: Conduct comprehensive facility condition assessments to evaluate the condition of building systems and components, identify deficiencies, and provide recommendations for repairs and upgrades.
- Engineering Reports: Prepare detailed engineering reports for clients, including load calculations, energy audits, and feasibility studies.
- HVAC Design: Provide HVAC design services for new construction and renovation projects, ensuring efficient and effective climate control.
- Field Team Support: Provide technical support and guidance to our field teams, assisting with troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in facilities engineering, maintenance, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, and building automation systems.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for effective planning and documentation.
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively and manage time efficiently.
- Strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to various client sites as needed.
- Experience with facility condition assessments, engineering report writing, and HVAC design is a plus.
Physical Demands:
Bend, squat, stand, crawl, and climb. Walk for long distances, reach above shoulders, handle objects, push, pull kneel, carry or lift over 25 lbs., work may necessitate working in confined spaces or high spaces.
