SUMMARY  

Bartenders, or Mixologists, mix and serve alcoholic beverages based on customer requests. Their duties include verifying the identification and age of customers, preparing and serving alcoholic beverages, accepting payment from customers, cleaning glasses and bar utensils and balancing cash receipts to record sales.

Club Bartender Job Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
  • Sign in and be in the Club and ready to work by shift starting time.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and support team to reach common goals.
  • Do not leave the bar unattended longer than 5 minutes during scheduled shift.  If you need to leave for more than 5 minutes, make sure that you can get someone to cover in your absence.
  • No watching TV or sitting on Club furniture.
  • Finish all opening and closing duties on a deadline basis.
  • Communicate to supervisor whenever you will be late or need to leave early.
  • Weekend and holiday work will be required.
  • Be willing to take on extra responsibilities as necessary and look around for other tasks that need to be done.
  • Be respectful to other staff members.
  • Support club and resort events by helping set up and take down after events.
  • Auto gratuities are not allowed.
  • All tips must be declared including cash tips.
  • All sales must be paid for by a Club Member.  Guests of Club Members will not be allowed to pay for their drinks with a personal credit card. 

 

Interactions with Club Members

  • Become intimately familiar with the Club Documents, primarily Customs and Courtesies.
  • Welcome / greet Club members and know by name, preference, and needs. 
  • When bar is not busy, sit at front desk and be ready to greet Club members upon arrival.
  • Know ingredients for the most common cocktails (garnishes, proper glassware, and prices).
  • Inform Club members about specialty drinks and answer questions about food, beverages, and other resort functions and services.
  • Clearly understand Club members needs and provide service at a high level including knowing Club members favorite drinks whenever possible.
  • Able to take orders in a timely manner and account for all orders properly and accurately.
  • Help set up and take down Club meal events, clearing plates and ensuring member satisfaction and support event staff.
  • Collaborate with Club staff to ensure all dishes, serving dishes and utensils are scraped and taken to the Reserve dish pit and to return dishes back to Club for proper storage.
  • Assure Club members have the proper utensils and plates as needed throughout the meal and removing any dirty dishes from table tops and bar.
  • Able to use POS systems accordingly, and accurately be able to complete transactions.
  • Full knowledge of all menu items, wines by the glass, beers, and signature drinks.
  • Club member maintenance, and mindfulness throughout the Club members experience.

 

Club Facilities

  • Take ownership of the cleanliness of the Club Lounge facilities, picking up dirty glass and plates, wiping down all table surfaces, throwing away trash throughout shift.
  • Pick and dispose of any trash in the outside areas of the Club facilities.
  • Return all furniture moved during shift to its original placement.
  • Wipe down outside tables, firepit covers, take in seat cushions at end of shift.
  • Take down all glassware, wipe down shelves and bottles and put back.
  • Wipe mirrors
  • Remove items from bar fridges, wipe down and replace items.
  • Daily removal of snow from outside furniture during winter months.
  • Report to supervisor whenever there is something that you cannot clean or fix.
  • Set up the night before for early morning events including breakfasts.
  • Dating open wines, throwing away fruit and open, outdated beverages and supplies at end of shift.
  • Placing order requisition at end of shift for the next day delivery.
  • This list is not all inclusive and duties may be required as necessary.  Some duties may extend beyond basic bartending duties.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Requires knowledge of computer hardware, word-processing, spreadsheet and data base software, prefer experience with Microsoft Office.  Requires knowledge of business letter writing and business forms; office procedures, business English, including vocabulary, correct grammatical usage and punctuation, filing systems; and common office machines and their operation.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous work experience in bartending in full-service restaurants.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Fluent in English

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to do basic arithmetic

  • Frequent bending, climbing, kneeling squatting, twisting/turning from waist and pushing/pulling objects.
  • Will be working with hands and fingers, lifting and moving objects up to 40 pounds horizontally and vertically on a regular basis.
  • Near and far vision as well as good depth perception and color vision are important. Frequent use of senses.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
