Base Camp Counselor
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Base Camp Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide a safe and engaging environment for youth, facilitating activities and ensuring a positive experience for all participants. Your passion for working with young people and your ability to foster community will be key to your success.
Responsibilities:
- Supervision: Monitor and supervise youth participants during activities to ensure safety and adherence to center policies.
- Activity Coordination: Assist int he planning, organizing, and leading of recreational and educational activities, including sports, arts and crafts, games, and workshops.
- Engagement: Foster positive relationships with youth, encouraging participation and inclusivity while promoting teamwork and respect.
- Facility Maintenance: Assist in maintaining a clean and organized environment, including equipment setup and cleanup after activities.
- Conflict Resolution: Address any behavioral issues or conflicts among participants in a fair and constructive manner.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between youth, parents, and staff, providing updates on activities and addressing any concerns.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be over the age of 16 years old.
- Ability to work full-time, including weekends and holidays.
- Physically capable of sitting, standing, and lifting children daily.
- High levels of patience, empathy, and creativity.
- Background check clearance through the Department of Health and Welfare or willingness to obtain.
- Commitment to completing the annual IdahoSTARS training (12 hours).
- Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Strong computer skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Skills and Qualities
- Strong understanding of child development principles and the ability to employ positive redirection and behavior management.
- Team-oriented, communicative, and responsive to the needs of children, families, and team.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, maintaining engagement and enthusiasm throughout daily routines and activities.
- Previous childcare experience working in a childcare setting.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Fluent in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to do basic arithmetic.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to identify problems and derive possible solutions.

- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
