SUMMARY  

The Terrain Park Grooming Operator is responsible for the nightly construction, re-construction and maintenance of terrain park features in addition to the nightly grooming of all terrain found within each terrain park. This position is key to maintaining all terrain park elements to provide a fun and safe environment/experience for our guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Responsible for the nightly examination and maintenance of all groomable park elements to ensure safety by eliminating hazards to customers and employees.
  • Safely operating grooming equipment.
  • Responsible for supervising night time hand crew during build projects.
  • Assist in digging out and moving jib features.
  • Communicating nightly grooming results to groomer supervisor and park manager.
  • Complete daily reports, logs, and questionnaires as required.
  • Work closely with, and assist other departments, such as Grooming, Ski Patrol, Lift Operations and Special Events.
  • Operate various types of motorized equipment on and off the mountain.
  • Responsible for personal safety and the safety of crew members.
  • Ability to construct and maintain terrain park features using a snow cat.
  • Valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain all certifications required though on the job training.
  • Ability to multi task.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • 3-5 years of experience in freestyle grooming (preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience in freestyle grooming (required).
  • Must be over 18 years of age.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One-year certificate from college or technical school; four years related experience and/or training grooming; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Cutter’s Camp Training Program and snowmaking experience preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Requires possession of valid Class C Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the resort’s insurance carrier.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises all employees within the Grooming and Snowmaking departments.  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
