Nordic Cat Operator
Accountable for carrying out assignments from the slope maintenance manager. Includes nightly grooming/maintenance of Nordic ski runs and ski in ski out easements across the mountain. Provide Snowcat support for a plethora of other mountain departments and special events. Operate and assist in light maintenance of all departmental vehicles and equipment. Learn the theory and practice of trail grooming on all public ski trails. Visually and physically check the groom from your given work zone daily.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Acquire the necessary skills to proficiently and safely operate over the snow grooming and hauling vehicles including:
- Thorough daily pre and post operations vehicle inspections completed through our fleetio vehicle checkout system.
- Correct startup and Shutdown procedures
- Blade Operation
- Tiller Operation
- Over the Blade Fork Haul Operation
- Over the Blade Box Haul Operation
• Learn company and industry grooming practices for ski trails as directed by crew lead or slope maintenance manager:
- Grooming theory and techniques

- Changing snow and weather conditions
- Basic Snow Science
- Operating techniques
- Working around buildings, lifts and snowmaking equipment
• Assist with in-field troubleshooting, and general care and maintenance of department vehicles, implements and tools using:

- Vehicle write-ups
- Clear and Accurate Operator log sheets
- Shop procedures (fueling, parking)
- Acquire navigational knowledge of Tamarack Resort trail and road systems:
- Recommended hauling routes and roads
- (Infrastructure) Building and lift locations
- Ski trail names and general locations
- Terrain Park, beginner area, and winch-cat operator locations.
- Perform assigned duties as required to support other mountain operations departments.
- Assist in set-up and clean-up of special events as requested.
- Able to work rotating shifts at night in adverse weather conditions.
- Accountable for safety and good housekeeping in work areas
- Maintain a good attitude and good attendance during scheduled work time.

- Prior snowcat operations or heavy equipment experience preferred.
- Prior Nordic Grooming experience preferred.
- Prior Mountain Operations/Ski Industry experience preferred.
- Experience with basic hand tools, rigging, power tools, test equipment etc.
- Ability to read and understand flight plans for daily operation.
- Works well with others.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Good Night Vision.
- Should be mechanically inclined.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must be able to work night shifts
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Requires possession of valid Class C driver license with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the resort’s insurance carrier. Apprentice Level in any one trade would be preferred. Understanding of lock-out/tag-out procedures
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
