Position Summary: 

  • Under manager’s direction is responsible for executing on the People Strategy for assigned client group(s) with a focus on supporting Taiho’s current and long-term corporate goals, business objectives and operating principles. Serves as local People point of contact for Pleasanton location working with appropriate Business Partners/ Centers of Excellence to ensure successful outcomes. Counted on by clients for providing sound advice and judgement. Affects change by being a strategic advisor to clients through internal consulting and problem solving across the following human strategy dimensions:  leadership development and coaching, employee engagement, change management, talent solutions, employee relations and total rewards. Works in partnership with colleagues in the People team to deliver value added service to clients. Deep knowledge of assigned client group(s) their business drivers and activities, sharing insights that may impact People agenda. 

 

Performance Objectives: 

  • Utilizes knowledge of business and clients to provide guidance and input. 
  • Establishes relationships of trust with clients leading to being brought in early for more efficient impact on important actions and decisions. 
  • Consults on business issues and coaches leaders to make better people decisions and be more effective leaders. 
  • Provides organizational change capabilities to bring teams together to ensure communication, collaboration and desired results. 
  • Gives advice/input on assessment of talent for hiring, promotions and job changes. 
  • Partners with leaders and Talent Management on leader and employee development solutions. 
  • Facilitates people processes with assigned clients including year-end processes, employee survey results, workforce planning, etc. 
  • Advises teams and or individuals within client groups to resolve issues, enable change and optimize performance 
  • Immigration management for all Taiho Oncology.  
  • Uses facts/data to drive guidance and resulting actions. 
  • Provides People policy guidance and interpretation. 
  • Champions and models the desired culture and behavioral norms for the organization. 
  • Provides timely and direct feedback to leaders, colleagues and employees. 
  • Participates in client meetings as part of the team to keep abreast of the business and provide People strategy and organizational updates. 
  • Serves as the executive advisor to the Partner, Educate, Entertain, Party, socialize (PEEPS) committee and is active and visible whenever possible during company social events, team meetings and training functions. 
  • Identifies and seeks to understand processes, policies or tools that may conflict with desired culture working with team to assess remedies 
  • Project Management: 
    • Uses project management rigor and methodology in leading team projects. 
    • Collaborates effectively and frequently seeks input from others internally or externally where needed and uses that input for the improvement of the overall project(s). 

 

Education/Certification Requirements: 

  • BA/BS degree in business related discipline, or the equivalent. 
  • MBA or MS degree preferred 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • 8 years’ experience in Human Resources, including serving in a HR Business Partner capacity, with at least 4 years in the pharmaceutical industry. 
  • Subject matter expert in human resource applicable laws, rules and requirements in California  
  • Ideally, experience in a rapidly growing organization e.g., start-up company  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, adept at conflict resolution, successful at working multiple levels of the organization, able to coach at multiple levels of the organization. 
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Knows audience and tailors communications.  
  • Able to create relationships internally and externally, creating a presence in the business community. 
  • Can effectively interact with multiple levels within the organization, including business leaders. 
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities and leadership. 
  • Positive attitude, flexible and proactive. 
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to present information at multiple levels of the company. 
  • Share information and distill it down to most relevant and important points in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Strong Microsoft Office 365 applications Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc. Preferred working knowledge in Dayforce, Workday and or other HR technology. 
  • The incumbent in this position may be required to perform other duties, as assigned. 

 

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $204,000-240,000 annually. This pay range is based on the market range for positions of this type. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, commissions, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. 

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
