Supplier Compliance Manager (SugarCreek)

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Oversee and maintain SugarCreek’s Supplier Management and Supplier Compliance Programs to ensure specification adherence, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation expectations are met by SugarCreek’s suppliers. Work directly with suppliers, Corporate Supply Chain, R&D, and internal SugarCreek facilities to manage FSQA-associate risk to the business as it relates to supplier compliance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop, implement, and maintain Supplier Risk Level System and Supplier Scorecard System to drive continuous improvement and supplier specification adherence for current and future supplier partnerships.
• Perform Supplier audits (virtually/remote or on-site) and work with Suppliers to resolve any conformance issues.
• Work with all internal facilities to development additional monitoring and verification procedures on incoming materials to ensure specification adherence.
• Manage and improve Corporate Approved Supplier Program to help mitigate supplier-related business risk.
• Stay current on all FSQA industry trends and any FSQA concerns specific to SugarCreek suppliers.
• Work with Product Development Team and Supply Chain to ensure new suppliers are properly vetted.
• Provide meaningful input on significant business decisions involving FSQA issues to Corporate and Plant Management.
• Work with suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve non-conformance issues with incoming materials.
• Develop additional tools to assist plants with effectively monitoring compliance of incoming materials.
• Work with suppliers on continuous improvement planning to improve quality of incoming materials.
• Prepare and report on KPIs related to supplier compliance to Executive Management and Plant Management.
• Provide guidance to Plant Management on FSQA implications of changing suppliers, products, processing or facility design.
• Ensure compliance to FDA, USDA, PCQI, GFSI, OSHA and HACCP support programs, relating to food safety & quality.
• Manage internal audits at all SugarCreek facilities, with assistance from the Corporate FSQA Team.
• Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
• Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
• Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree with a major in chemistry, biology, microbiology, food science, or other related field; or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of experience in a quality assurance supervisor/manager role in a food-related industry.
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: HACCP certification required; SQF & PCQI certifications preferred.
ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
• Possess excellent organization and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Able to read and comprehend printed and electronic information.
• Able to use computers with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Know how to respond to emergency situations and fill various roles on emergency response teams.
• Able to work collaboratively with FSQA personnel, Plant Departments and Corporate Management.
• Know how to relay complex information effectively in order to educate employees on FSQA-related issues, rules and procedures.
• Possess strong leadership skills, independent thinking, organizational skills and time management skills.
• Possess strong proficiency in HACCP, SQF, FSMA, GMPs, Sanitation, Sanitary Design and other FSQA-related programs.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
No unusual physical requirements. Physical requirements are consistent with quality assurance management positions, including some sitting with some standing/walking required. Other light physical activity like using stairs or occasionally moving items weighing less than 15lbs may be required as needed. Some travel is required in between plants.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Some travel to other locations is required.
Most work is performed in a comfortable, indoor, office-like facility. Some work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment. Very little work is performed outside of the manufacturing facility.
