Maintenance Technician Sr (SugarCreek)

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Lead and perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed to keep machines and mechanical equipment operating efficiently
and in a safe manner. Performs mentoring and training of maintenance team. Coordinate with Plant Management to establish
maintenance schedules on various machines so as to minimize downtime on production.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead troubleshooting and corrective maintenance related to equipment, acting as first level of escalation for
lower-level technicians. Includes Inspecting, operating, or testing machinery or equipment to diagnose electrical
and mechanical malfunctions.
Dismantle and rebuild machinery, equipment and/or field devices to access and remove defective parts, using
hoists, cranes, hand tools or power tools.
Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking
fluid levels, replacing filters or performing other preventive maintenance tasks.
Leads PDM program including performing repairs, verification of lower technician’s findings and repairs, and
tracking pre- and post-repair performance changes to provide trend reports for site leadership.
Utilize prints, repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and/or parts catalogs as necessary.
Repair machines, equipment, or structures using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, precision
measuring instruments, or electronic testing devices.
Maintain and troubleshoot relay logic, including control field devices, contactors, starters, limit switches,
proximity sensors, photo eyes, VFDs, HMIs, interlock safety devices, etc.
Mentor junior technicians and peers by providing positive motivation and guidance to achieve departmental
goals and performing safety trainings.
Review and complete work orders timely, conducting necessary maintenance or repairs as needed.
Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures at all times and ensure all Maintenance Personnel are following LOTO
procedures at all times.
Maintain positive working relationship with all departments and sustain constant communication with Plant
Management regarding any maintenance issues that may arise.
Complete daily reports outlining maintenance or repairs conducted over the course of the shift.
Perform continued education and training in related multi-craft skills.
Participates in root cause analysis events for local site.
Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), or equivalent experience; vocational training or associate degree with an
electro-mechanical focus preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 3+ years of experience in maintenance role with automated equipment preferred; 3+ years of experience in
maintenance role with electrical and electronic responsibilities preferred. 3+ years of experience in maintenance role in a food
manufacturing setting preferred.
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: None.
ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Possess knowledge of machines, diagnostic tools, and hand tools, including their designs, uses, repair for maintenance.
Able to communicate complex information effectively to other employees.
Able to lead team on how to troubleshoot effectively to diagnose mechanical, controls, and electrical issues.
Know how to use basic computer programs like Microsoft Office.
Able to strictly follow any and all safety procedures and policies in place and ensure team compliance.
Able to use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Able to act as a subject matter expert on up to three site level assets or industrial standard skills.
Ability to lead site improvement projects, including performing installation and operational quality checks (IQ/OQ).
Know how to operate industrial-size equipment safely and efficiently.
Possess adequate hand dexterity to manipulate or move objects.
Able to work well with others in a team environment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
No unusual physical requirements. Physical requirements are consistent with typical maintenance positions, including mostly
standing/walking with little sitting required. Other physical activity like using stairs or lifting/moving items weighing less than
60lbs is required. Some travel may be required in between plants.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Some travel to other locations is required.
Little work is performed in a comfortable, indoor, office-like facility. Most work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility
with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection,
safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats, and other necessary equipment. Very little work is performed outside of the manufacturing
facility.
