Summary
Will work under the supervision of the Director of Strategic Operations and Planning to support the Medicaid Executive Office in the development and implementation of new strategic Medicaid initiatives, including budget priorities, federal waiver authority programs such as the 1115 waiver, and other state and federal activities through policy research and development, project management, and collaboration with subject matter experts and OHIP leadership.
Basic Qualifications
- Will lead and participate in policy workgroups to help develop, refine, and implement policies and procedures to improve Medicaid initiatives.
- Will track and support the timely completion of Medicaid projects, 1115 waiver activities, and other activities, as required. The candidate will develop and maintain tracking and reporting documents and processes and provide regular progress reports to OHIP leadership.
- Will play a critical role in the implementation of the New York Health Equity Reform – New York’s recently approved $7.5B 1115 Medicaid waiver to expand health-related social need services. The candidate will help oversee the timely implementation of waiver initiatives, assist in program and policy research and development, engage with stakeholders, develop internal and external materials, and help track, monitor, and report program activities to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
- Will serve as a critical liaison to Medicaid program staff, offices within DOH, other state agencies, and other internal and external stakeholders, relaying information and guidance, researching and investigating answers to key implementation questions, and, as needed, assisting with scheduling and coordinating meetings, logistics, and other relevant support activities for the team. The candidate will participate in, analyze, and coordinate elements of major initiatives, operations, and special projects.
- Will research and analyze federal Medicaid guidance and policy developments, as well as other states’ Medicaid programs and initiatives to inform OHIP Executive decision-making. The candidate will develop policy memos, PowerPoint presentations, narrative reports, spending reports, and other documents, as needed.
- The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking, research, organizational, communication, editorial, and writing skills. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience working with the Medicaid program and state/federal government; strong skills in Excel, Word, Power Point, and other MS Office applications; strong math skills; comfort working at the complex intersection of state and federal policy and regulation; familiarity with financial data and budgeting; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required plus five years of professional level experience.
- Experience working with waivers is preferred, but not required.
- Must be a United States Citizen or a Permanent Resident of the United States in order to be considered.
*Employees must follow established work schedules. The usual work schedule is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Normal work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise specified by the supervisor, this includes a half hour unpaid lunch break. Total work hours must equal 37.5 hours per week.
Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
