Laboratory Assistant - Work Study

PLEASE NOTE: In order to be considered for Work-Study employment, you MUST have a FAFSA on file with SSCC for the academic term.
If a student is applying for work study employment for the 2024 Spring or Summer semester, a 2023-2024 FAFSA is needed to be on file with SSCC as a school of choice. If work study employment is desired for the Fall (2024), Spring (2025) or Summer (2025) semesters then a 2024-2025 FAFSA will need to be on file.
In order to be eligible for Federal Work-Study a completed FAFSA must be on file at SSCC with eligibility for need-based aid (Pell grant and/or Subsidized student loans). The Work-Study program offers part-time employment on campus to students enrolled in at least three semester hours at Southern State Community College. Please be advised that the number of work-study positions is limited. A background check will be performed on applicants prior to placement in a position.
Students employed in the federal work-study program will be paid directly by a paycheck from the college twice monthly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- maintain mannequins, simulators and labs in clean, operational state
- inventory and assist in ordering lab equipment and supplies,
- prepare paperwork necessary for lab sessions,
- perform general office duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent organizational skills,
- ability to work independently
- good interpersonal communication skills
- ability to lift, move, push/pull mannequins, simulators and other equipment
- Some medical background helpful
