Maintenance Operator - Auxiliary Services Maintenance

Job purpose
The ideal candidate will have mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience related to heavy manufacturing. The position requires knowledge of at least one or more of the following: Industrial electricity, PLC’s, Mechanical Maintenance, Water Systems, Hydraulics or Welding. The position may work in all areas of maintenance, including mechanical, electrical and hydraulics. The position requires working on rotating swing shifts.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Day-to-day preventative maintenance of the plant equipment
- Troubleshooting of mechanical systems and/or electrical systems
- Mechanical / Electrical maintenance along with related alignments
- Evaluate equipment performance
- Logging of work into a preventive maintenance system and related work order system
- Perform all work utilizing safe work practice’s
- Follow / practice JSA and EIC Program and policies
- Follow all Lockout / Tag-out programs and procedures
Qualifications: Education and Experience
Required Education:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Education:
- Associates degree or certificate in mechanical field or electrical field
Required Experience:
- Knowledge of schematics, blueprints, single line diagrams, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required
- Minimum Microsoft Office suite computer skills are required
- Previous industrial experience required
- Knowledge of welding basics
- Knowledge of rigging and equipment
- NFPA 70E training highly desirable
- Perform job tasks with minimal supervision
- Work rotating shifts
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of heavy industry experience
- Experience with mechanical systems to include controls, electrical components and mechanical components
- NFPA level 2 Electrical Arc flash certification is highly desirable
Working conditions:
The employee will frequently be required to:
- Sit, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Reach above shoulder level and below waist level
- Use both hands for grasping, fingering, gripping and feeling textures and temperatures
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
The employee will occasionally be required to:
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
The position requires the following vision and hearing capabilities:
- Close, distance and peripheral vision
- Depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Hearing in person, on the phone, and/or in group settings
The employee will work in the following conditions:
- Extreme hot and cold conditions
- Wet and humid conditions
- Amid fumes, dust, dirt, and smoke
- In confined areas, high places and around equipment in motion
- Amid noise
- While wearing personal protective / safety equipment to prevent injury from noise and environmental hazards
Position Type – Work Hours – Travel Requirements
- Position is a full time, hourly, and is eligible for overtime
- Position works rotating 12-hour swing shifts to include days and nights
- No travel is expected for this position
