About the Role

 

As a 5th Grade Science Teacher at Park Maitland School, you will have the opportunity to work with our talented and highly motivated students to continue to build a broad knowledge foundation that will set them up for success throughout their educational journey. The ideal candidate will create an engaging and inquiry-based learning environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for scientific exploration. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a dynamic science curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
  • Foster a hands-on, inquiry-driven classroom that encourages students to explore scientific concepts through experiments, projects, and real-world applications.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and academic growth.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing meaningful feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success.
  • Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • State teaching certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school science preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Passion for science education and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
