About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Preschool Assistant Teacher who will play a crucial role in maintaining a nurturing and engaging classroom environment. As a Preschool Assistant, you will work with students between ages 1 to 4 years old. This position is perfect for individuals passionate about education and looking to advance their careers by eventually stepping into a lead teacher role.
As an Assistant Teacher, you will:
- Foster positive social and emotional growth in students
- Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to ensure smooth classroom operations
- Engage with parents or guardians to support student development
- Help maintain a well-organized, vibrant, and interactive classroom
- If a teaching position opens during the school year, the assistant teacher will be the first to step into the classroom role.
Responsibilities

Assist the lead teacher in planning, supervising, and implementing the curriculum in alignment with Park Maitland’s policies and procedures.

Step in as a substitute teacher when needed, ensuring continuity of learning.

Support classroom organization, including contributing to the classroom’s appearance and décor.

Maintain and contribute to classroom displays, including student artwork and bulletin boards.

Uphold a positive, non-punitive approach to classroom management, focusing on positive reinforcement.

Demonstrate a strong commitment to the school’s values and ethos, maintaining professionalism at all times.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, ensuring a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

What We Are Looking For
- DCF Credentials or willing to obtain credentials
- Associate or Bachelors degree in education preferred
- Prior classroom experience in a preschool setting is preferred
