Mechanic
Responsibilities:
- Create and complete equipment dispatch notifications. Performed within the guidelines outlined in the GCSS-A end user manual and local procedures.
- Create and complete work orders, requests, and issues material to work orders as appropriate.
- Performed within the guidelines out lined in the GCSS-A end user manual and local procedures
- Executes Equipment Records Parts Specialist (ERPS) level actions within GCSS-A
- Process quarterly inventories in GCSS-A per the GCSS-A end user manual and local procedures.
- Alerts supervisor of issues affecting operations productivity or issues that affect employee’s ability to perform their duties in a timely manner.
- Recommend changes to improve operational flow of information and data updates with units
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Perform quarterly physical inventories of shop stock listing and updates storage locations, as applicable.
- Review Equipment Status Report (ESR) and T-Code and Z-ISSUE to ensure material is appropriately issued to reservation/work order.
- Assign workload to UME mechanics within the guidelines provided by government maintenance managers.
- Assist government employees with material pickup from local Supply Support Activity (SSA) utilizing a government vehicle.
- Monitor and action Overage Recoverable Listing (ORIL) for material requiring disposition through the Supply Support Activity (SSA).
- Prepare turn-in documentation through GCSS-A.
- Packs, loads and delivers material to SSA for disposition.
- Reviews shipments for defective materials and quantity discrepancies upon receipt based on bill of lading, contracts, purchase requisitions, shipping documents and material release orders.
- Stores material issued to work orders pending completion IAW local procedures provided by the government maintenance manager.
- Constructs bins, shelving and other storage aids.
- Ensures application of special procedures for handling, storing, packaging and shipping retrograde material.
- Operates Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- Packs, crates, stencils, weighs and bands material, equipment and supplies.
- Unloads, unpacks, visually inspects, counts, segregates, palletizes and stores incoming material and equipment.
- Establish and maintain stock records and other documents such as inventory, material control, accounting and supply reports.
- Maintains records of material issuance based on local procedures.
- Maintains material release orders per Army regulations.
- Extract reports via GCSS-A and other logistics information systems
at intervals directed by the government maintenance manager. - Reports may include but are not limited to, Equipment Status Report, Overage Recoverable Listing, Equipment Service Schedule, and Usage Reports.
- Coordinate with subordinate unit maintenance personnel to track work order and requisitions status for all maintenance jobs within the Battalion.
- Perform liaison duties with higher support agencies for maintenance support, training and special requests.
- Order parts for vehicle repair using GCSS-Army and other prescribed systems, as required.
Requirements
- Possess a secret security clearance prior to beginning support of this effort and maintain said clearance throughout duration of support of this effort.
- Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain appropriate special license/certification for equipment to be operated to include but not limited to: forklifts and 15K truck.
- Possess excellent work ethics, verbal and written communication skills and be detailed and accurate in performing all administrative and
- routine functions.
- Be able to work in an environment that is fast paced while completing multiple tasks and meeting stringent timelines. Be able to work independently without direct supervision.
- Be able to write correspondence in a military format, when necessary, such as correspondence using the Army Writing System in accordance AR 25-50.
- Proficiently use MS Office application software to maintain data and submit reports of varying types and formats via internal management control databases, spreadsheets, and other reporting tools in a variety of program application software.
- Make effective use of e-mail correspondence with an expert knowledge of Outlook E-mail communication programs.
- Be capable and proficient with verbal communications, both in person and via teleconferences for the purpose of effective coordination with military installation management staff, USASOC staff action officers and non-government agencies as required.
- Be willing to attend and satisfactorily complete, required training associated with job responsibilities.
- Maintain a clean workspace.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Possess at least 3 years' experience in organizational maintenance and intermediate maintenance (Mechanic Support) or automotive supply and procurement (Maintenance Supply Clerk Support).
- Be physically able to lift up to 40 pounds or more, bend, sit, stand, reach and move about the facility.
- Basic computer skill
- Basic certification on Army Wheeled Vehicles
- Basic certification on HVAC systems
- Basic construction drawing interpretation skills and move about the facility
- Possess a GCSS-A certification, or complete certification requirements within 30 days of hire.
- Possess at least 3 years' experience in automotive supply and procurement.
