PURPOSE
This role will provide basic technical support within the organization while gaining valuable experience. Much of the Intern's time will be spent producing output under the direction of an Engineer or Management in the form of tasks such as: research, testing, design, drawings, data administration, data analysis, reports, and other duties as requested.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Interpret internal and external customer requirements to meet desired outputs.
- Conduct technical product evaluations to identify potential modes of failure as defined by existing documentation and report results to internal and external customers.
- Communicate technical knowledge, specifications, and direction to internal and external customers.
- Perform guided research on a variety of topics and provide summarized data results.
- Create and input data utilizing corporate management system software, including CAD models, part documentation, bills of materials, assembly documentation, and cost analysis.
- Complete assigned tasks using predefined departmental processes.
- Hands-on technical support for both internal and external customers.
- Participate in a team to accomplish given tasks or processes.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by the management team.
- Record daily activities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Capacity to work indoors in an office, laboratory, and/or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
- Capability to lift objects or equipment weighing up to 51 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Physical aptitude to use basic hand tools in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Pursuing a STEM-related high-school diploma and working toward being accepted by an engineering or technical program at an accredited institution.
- Introduction of CAD software as applied to the product development process.
- Introduction to applied project management principles, methodologies, and documentation.
- Introduction to engineering software as applied to product development process
- Introduction to the understanding of tolerance as it relates to design intent.
- Novice in conducting research using corporate resources.
- Novice at efficient use of time to effectively plan and execute multiple duties.
- Introduction to utilize basic inspection equipment in a laboratory environment. (Calipers, micrometers, flow meter, voltmeter,
etc.) - Novice ability to communicate utilizing corporate office software.
- Novice ability to take verbal and/or written direction on tasks, training, or departmental / company policies.
- Novice ability to communicate, in English, with internal and external customers tactfully and professionally.
- 0+ years (preferred) relevant work experience.
