Supervisor Engineering

PURPOSE 

The purpose of the Engineering Supervisor is to plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. In this role, you must be able to guide your team toward their goals, insure that all members of the team are productive, and resolve problems as they arise.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Creativity, innovation of existing interdepartmental processes
  • Reliability, be available to complete tasks / projects / support subordinates as required by internal / external customer requirements
  • Communicate with various departments, external customers, or individuals directly associated with assigned projects (verbal and written)
  • Maintain regular project review meetings with engineers to update on project status and drive timely completion of projects
  • Insure proper policies and procedures are in place and followed to obtain corporate objectives
  • Develop and communicate employee reviews that include performance metrics, expected results and career progression guidelines for promotions
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to keep them informed of department activities and projects
  • Support a world class environment that promotes safety, cleanliness, and pride in workmanship
  • Execute strategy and plans for continuous operational improvements
  • Analyze and maintain an appropriate level of workload for all respective direct reports (i.e. projects, specials, customer support and floor support)
  • Develop new design / information methods, manufacturing technologies and processes that align to the company’s growth and cost targets
  • Take verbal and/or written directions on projects, training, company policies, or company objective
  • Provide verbal and/or written results or summary of tasks / projects, presentations, or requests to various persons during execution of tasks / projects
  • Produce the end product of requested tasks in the form of components, assemblies, drawings, data files, proposals, reports, or presentations.
  • Mentor other engineers in their goals to improve products, processes, layouts, and customer support
  • Will be assigned tasks for training and development purposes

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasional travel, mainly for training purposes, customer projects, trips to Japan
  • Occasional physical demand of moving or rearranging files and file storage boxes, and or product
  • Occasional physical demand of moving and relocating production/lab equipment in a production environment which may expose the employee to noise, heat, cold, dust, oil, grease and/or coolants; and may require wearing personal protective equipment

Fast-paced office environment

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar discipline
  • Minimum 5-10 years Engineering experience
  • Complete understanding of the company’s operations
  • Good understanding of all software systems utilized within the department
  • Good oral and written skills

Ability to deal with internal and external customers tactfully and in a professional manner
