Position Summary:

SkyWater is searching for a highly skilled and experienced Principal Yield Engineer to join our dynamic team in the semiconductor and foundry business. This role focuses on enhancing production yields for 90nm bulk silicon and 90nm FDSOI technology, with a particular emphasis on ROIC (Readout Integrated Circuit) and radiation-hardened (rad-hard) products. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in semiconductor manufacturing processes and a proven track record in yield improvement and defect reduction in a high-tech, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve yield and reduce defects in the manufacturing of 90nm bulk silicon and FDSOI technologies.
  • Analyze production data using statistical process control and other data analysis tools to identify root causes of yield-impacting issues.
  • Collaborate with process engineering teams to optimize semiconductor processes and equipment settings to enhance overall yield.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in focused yield improvement projects, from conception through to implementation.
  • Provide expertise in the design and modification of ROIC and rad-hard products to meet stringent performance and reliability standards.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies, applying cutting-edge solutions to drive continuous improvement in yield processes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management, highlighting yield trends, project progress, and improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field. A Master’s degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in yield engineering within the semiconductor industry, specifically with 90nm technology and below.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes, especially CMOS and FDSOI technologies.
  • Expertise in using statistical software and tools for data analysis, such as JMP, Python, or R.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in customer facing roles
  • US Citizenship Required: This position will require the holding of or ability to obtain government security clearance which requires U.S Citizenship. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong background in ROIC and radiation-hardened technologies, with a proven record of improving product yields and reliability.

The annual salary range for this role is $131,840 - $197,760.  Pay offered is based on many factors including, but not limited to, the job-related experience, skills, education, and credentials of each candidate.
