The Trench Safety Business Development Manager is principally responsible for increasing revenue and expanding business opportunities that allow the company to achieve maximum profitability and success. The BDM achieves these goals by creating and executing on a defined business strategy to a) maintain and develop existing relationships and b) identify and secure opportunities with new business partners and customers. The BDM strives to deliver a best-in-class solution-focused customer experience to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and retention.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

· Build comprehensive business development plan and growth strategy with targeted goals, objectives, methods, timelines, and quantifiable outcomes centered on both financial gain and customer satisfaction

· Research and identify new business opportunities including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets

· Generate business leads for operational partners through lead sharing, sales campaigns, and customer referrals

· Foster and develop relationships with new and existing customers/accounts through sales calls, virtual and in-person business meetings

· Attend industry trade shows, company sponsored events, and conferences to network with fellow rental professionals and learn new and innovative ways to support company growth

· Collaborate with Operations, Fleet, Finance, and other operational partners as needed to ensure a best-in-class customer experience

· Create business reports that provide insight into key data points including but not limited to sales reports, call reports, expense and territory summaries, and financial forecasts

· Leverage CRM database to track potential customer/account activity, evaluate key data points, and develop sales strategies

· Maintain a diverse book of business that includes a range of contractors, across all lines of business

· Meet or exceed key business development KPIs including sales targets and profitability objectives

· All other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications

· Must have valid driver license

· Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook with emphasis on PowerPoint and media presentations

· Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and execute to meet established deadlines

· Excellent customer service, communication, and negotiation skills

· Strong Trench Safety product knowledge, problem-solving skills and knowledgeable in OSHA CFR-Part 1926 requirements.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Proven track record in transactional sales and relationship building in diverse selling environments with high volume accounts

 

Experience and Education

· Must have a high school diploma or GED

· Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred

· Knowledge/experience in construction, manufacturing, or distribution industry preferred

· Minimum five (5) years’ experience in outside sales or demonstrable ability to be successful in sales preferred

· Knowledge/experience with Salesforce.com or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems preferred

 

Physical Requirements

· Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% and work a flexible schedule

· Ability and willingness to travel to company sites in-state and/or out-of-state as needed

· Frequently standing, talking, walking, sitting, lifting, twisting, bending, and use repetitive motions

· Occasionally working in extreme cold, heat/sun, temperature change, wetness, and humidity

· Must be able to sit, stand, bend, or walk for long periods of time, often lift, and carry 40 pounds

· Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment
