The Production Assistant will assist the Gallery production team with title support as well as project-oriented tasks. They will report to a Senior Production Manager and work alongside a Production Supervisor and Production Associate.
Responsibilities include coordinating the manufacturing of bound galleys (approximately half of the quantity for the frontlist department), managing the Price/Quantity agendas, and handling a portion of the Gallery paperback conversions as well as mass market titles. This position will work with various departments across S&S, entering/updating book specs in TMM/POMS, creating estimates and P&Ls, issuing purchase orders for each assigned title, working closely with outside vendors (including compositors, component printers and binderies), and examining book samples and ensuring quality standards are met.
We are looking for:
- A general interest in book production and manufacturing
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication, organization and scheduling skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of TMM/POMS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams/OneDrive/Sharepoint/Office is a plus

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
