Adams Media is seeking a seasoned Publicity Manager with a specific interest in nonfiction lifestyle titles to maximize publicity coverage.
Specific areas of focus include self-help, cooking, and franchise pop culture tie-ins. The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record executing nonfiction publicity campaigns and will come to the table with an established network of media connections (including national broadcast).
This role will independently lead media campaigns for the imprint’s most high-profile titles. A key position for the group, the Publicity Manager will partner across the imprint on overall discoverability strategy and revenue goals. Additionally, the selected candidate will have significant author relations experience and confidence to coach authors throughout the publication cycle.
Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills will be key to success. A brain-storming enthusiast who routinely thinks outside the box will be most successful.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute effective publicity campaigns for assigned Adams Media titles – approximately 3 new releases each month
- Generate high-return media coverage across all appropriate outlets (local, national, online)
- Build and maintain positive author/publisher relationships, partnering with key editorial and imprint staff to ensure success
- Prepare authors for interview opportunities
- Arrange select in-store events
- Independently write engaging and response-driven press materials
- Proactively seek out new media outlets and evolving publicity opportunities
Qualifications:
- 5 to 7 years book publicity experience, with proven media track-record (ideal candidate will have national broadcast success and recent campaign examples)
- Excellent writer able to create a story that will capture media attention
- A strategic thinker able to capitalize on the imprint’s unique market strengths
- Independent self-starter with a commitment to delivering results
- Adept multitasker able to meet deadlines and manage various requests simultaneously, applying urgency when required
- Collaborative team player eager to share best practices and media wins
- Determined and focused in follow-up
- Proficient in Microsoft Office / MuckRack

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
