International Admissions - Associate Director of Graduate International Admissions
Position Summary
Assist in the recruitment, conversion, and enrollment of new full-time international graduate students to increase the quality and quantity of such students.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of admissions and student recruitment, including, but not limited to, the representation of the university to wide and diverse audiences within the United States and overseas
- Conduct student interviews via in-person and/or virtually
- Correspondence extensively via writing, phone, virtual, and e-mail with prospective students
- Participate in the communication, training, and management of an established agency recruitment network
- Assess application credentials from applicants seeking admission
- Work closely with the University’s ESL program to matriculate students to Undergraduate and Graduate enrollment, including participation in events that impact the matriculation of such students
- Work in collaboration with the Office of International and Immigration Services as well as Graduate Student Affairs for the initial arrival of graduate international students and assist with their transition to student life, including the participation in orientation programs
- Work collaboratively with University personnel responsible for Federal immigration regulations as they pertain to international students
- Promote international and multicultural understanding on campus and in the community-at-large
- Additional duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- University admissions experience, with knowledge of the principles and best practices involved with international recruitment and admissions in a university setting is preferred.
- Extensive travel is required, both domestic and overseas; therefore, experience traveling overseas is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license with no violations and accessibility to transportation is required.
- A valid passport is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong presentation skills.
- Priority is given to fluent multilingual speakers (English, Spanish, Arabic).
- Highly motivated, self-starter, independent worker, able to prioritize and initiate.
- Able to handle complex and multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Computer literacy; knowledge of computer databases for tracking purposes; familiarity with Colleague, and/or Slate, or similar administrative tracking systems a plus.
- Willingness to occasionally work unconventional hours.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to diverse constituents.
Unusual Working Conditions
Working with populations across global time zones requires flexible work hours, which are atypical of a traditional work week. Additional evening and weekend hours may be necessary as required by international travel, projects, workload, deadlines, or special events. Extensive travel is required, both domestic and overseas.
