Position Summary
This is a part time position that will serve as the Head Coach for the Club Boxing team. This position will be expected to run practices and attend matches throughout the season as well as other meetings and open houses as assigned.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide skills and safety training to the Club’s members according to the goals and objectives determined by the Club Sports Department.
- Educate club members on safety procedures and potential injury in their sport.
- Inspect equipment and facilities for compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain or obtain First Aid and CPR certification; provide copies of certification to Club Sports staff at the beginning of each season.
- Attend every match, competition and practice. If unable to attend, must notify the Club Sports Department a minimum of 1 week prior.
- Responsible for supervising practices and providing a program open to all levels of competition.
- Must complete an accident report for any incident requiring some form of medical attention that occurs during an on-campus or off-campus practice, competition, game, or instructional hours. The report should be submitted within 24 hours of each occurrence. If the injury is serious, you must notify the Director of Club Sports immediately and follow the Club Sports Emergency Plan.
- Ensure facilities and/or fields are prepared for practices and competitions.
- Develop a Recruitment Plan that will define the coach’s responsibility regarding contacting prospective students and working with the Admissions Staff to enable the program to reach/maintain its roster goal.
- Attend all Pioneer Day/Open Houses each semester.
- Mandate team attendance at Club Sports Programs (i.e.: Club Sport Orientation, etc.) as requested by the Director of Club Sports.
- Respond to any prospective student inquiries in a timely fashion.
- Will meet in person with all freshmen and sophomore students to obtain knowledge of their adjustment to college and their second year in school.
Knowledge, Skillls, Abilities & Other Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience in Boxing necessary, coaching experience preferred
- First Aid and CPR certification; or ability to become certified prior to season
Unusual Working Conditions
Nights and weekends are required and expected.
