Assistant Teaching Professor in Theatre Arts – Specialization in Musical Theatre

Sacred Heart University’s Department of Performing Arts invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor in Theatre Arts, specializing in Musical Theatre, starting Fall 2025. This position is designed for an artist/scholar with a passion for undergraduate teaching and a commitment to the values of a liberal arts education.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach courses in one or more of the following areas:
- Voice for Musical Theatre
- Acting for Musical Theatre
- Dance for Musical Theatre
- Theatre History and/or Theatre Studies
- Directing
As well as:
- Participate in curriculum and course development.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Contribute to program administration and university service.
Qualifications
Candidates must:
- Hold a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in Theatre or a related field by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrate a body of work in theatre research or performance.
- Have a record of scholarly achievement and demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
- Have a strong interest in program administration is highly desired.
