Job Title: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Chemistry

Position Summary:
The Department of Chemistry at Sacred Heart University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in Analytical Chemistry with a focus on green chemistry such as alternative energy and/or sustainability. We seek a dynamic and innovative scholar whose research addresses critical environmental challenges through advanced analytical techniques. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s mission of excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program in analytical chemistry with applications to environmental science.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis environmental science, and related fields.
• Manage and contribute to the state-of-the-art Instrumental Lab.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and professional development.
• Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to advance interdisciplinary environmental research.
• Contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities.
Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field, with a specialization in Analytical Chemistry, by the start date of the appointment. (ABD considered)
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching.
• Evidence of a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse academic environment.
• Postdoctoral experience is highly desirable but not required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Research expertise addressing environmental issues such as pollution monitoring, water quality analysis, sustainable practices, or ecosystem health.
• Experience with advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation.
• Proven ability to secure or potential to secure external funding for research.
• Strong record of scholarly publications in reputable journals.
