Adjunct Instructor, Dept of Marketing (Big Data, Graduate Program)
The Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Marketing, specifically to teach a big data at the graduate level. The marketing department oversees the MS in Digital Marketing program, which has an opening for an instructor for the course Big Data.
The ideal candidate would be an industry professional who is also interested in teaching or an academic who has big data quantitative skills. The big data course should give students both a theoretical understanding of the ‘why’ as well as hands-on experience with collecting and analyzing large data sets. The instructor should be experienced in quantitative tools such as R, R Studio, or Python, etc. If your toolset differs a bit, still contact us, and we can talk. Knowledge of/experience with collecting data from websites or social media platforms, whether through API calls or otherwise, would be helpful. If you have no higher-ed teaching experience, that is ok. Just bring your industry expertise and we can help you become a great instructor. Some course materials are already developed for you, or you could suggest your own if you’ve taught a similar course before.
Requirements:
- A minimum of a master's degree in a closely related field is required.
- Current work or teaching experience dealing with big data analyses.
The successful candidate will actively promote a collegial environment and consciously apply our mission and values to create a culture of inclusion and belonging; a safe space where all may thrive and succeed, will participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion; apply that understanding to guide your approach to all aspects of your job and the community as a whole and demonstrate that we are "Stronger Together" as described in the Office for Inclusive Excellence's Mission and Vision statements.
