Speech-Language Pathology - Assistant Professor

 

The College of Health Professions at Sacred Heart University invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor available August 1st, 2025 in the Department of Communication Disorders. The individual in this position will have responsibility for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders. Additional responsibilities will include student recruitment and advisement, program evaluation, and department, college and university service. 

 

Requirements:

  • Earned Ph.D. (ABD considered) in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences or related field.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Teaching experience and research expertise related to child language disorders including autism, augmentative and alternative communication, complex communication needs, and/or school-based practices.
  • The ability to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of language development, phonetics, anatomy and physiology of speech, hearing, and swallowing, neuroanatomy and physiology, and clinical methods.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, pedagogically-guided instruction for students in both undergraduate and graduate courses covering 24 credits per 10-month academic year.
  • Academic advisement of graduate and/or undergraduate students including the development and implementation of remediation plans for students at academic risk.
  • Develop a research program related to the applicant’s area of expertise and supervise student scholarship.
  • Engage in University, College, and Departmental service activities.
  • Contribute to a workplace culture that values mutual respect and collaboration.
  • Uphold a standard of professionalism that fosters a positive and inclusive environment for students and colleagues.

Our program employs innovative teaching techniques including problem-based learning, inverse teaching, simulation, and service learning.
