Are you passionate about workplace policy and advocacy? Do you want to make a real impact on the future of work? SHRM’s Policy and Government Affairs team is expanding, and we are hiring for multiple roles ranging from junior to experienced positions.
We’re looking for individuals with a range of skills and experiences, including:
- Policy Analysis and Development: Experience researching and crafting policy proposals related to workplace issues, including legal training.
- Government Relations and Advocacy: Strong knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes, with experience building relationships with policymakers on Capitol Hill, in state legislatures, or within government agencies.
- Strategic Communications: Excellent writing and speaking skills to communicate complex workplace issues to varied audiences.
- Project Management: Ability to manage cross-functional initiatives and meet critical deadlines.
- Coalition Building: Experience collaborating with industry groups, advocacy organizations, or other stakeholders, including associations and foundations.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in interpreting workforce trends, economic indicators, and SHRM research to inform policy priorities.
- Key Policy Areas: Experience or strong interest in healthcare, taxes, untapped talent pools, workforce development, regulatory affairs, and global workforce policy.

We’re hiring for multiple roles at various experience levels, offering opportunities for professionals at all stages of their careers such as:
Policy Advisor: $70,000 - $82,000
Sr. Policy Advisor: $75,000 - $98,000
Government Affairs Director: $140,000 - $175,000
These ranges is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
