HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Director of Membership and Audience Management is responsible for developing the strategy and implementation of all acquisition, retention, and cultivation campaigns for key audiences that are vital to SDZWA's revenue generation. This includes our base of approximately 400,000 members, VIP audience, and mass market fundraising efforts. Identifying target audiences to drive new initiatives, lead engagement, and loyalty programs to drive new and improved revenue opportunities from various segments including membership, VIP offerings, and mass market fundraising.
Serving as one of the key sales and fundraising leaders of the organization and partners with peer leaders to build an overarching integrated strategy for SDZWA's membership, audience management, VIP, and mass market fundraising priorities. These initiatives generate over $55 million in annual revenue through various channels. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Sales & Membership.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Responsible for oversight of staff including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training and performance management.
- Lead the sales, marketing, and strategy creation and implementation of SDZWA’s membership, mass market fundraising, and monthly giving programs.
- Develop and execute omnichannel campaign opportunities that support ambitious Membership, VIP, mass market fundraising and monthly giving program strategies, and measure progress against data-based revenue goals that align to the SDZWA strategic plan. Channels include: direct mail, print, telemarketing, programmatic digital display, SEO/SEM, email, and social media
- Continually improve the member and mass market donor experience to ensure best in class service while driving conservation action through education and a robust content strategy.
- Evaluate past, oversee present, and plan for future revenue growth and performance, making recommendations to maximize market penetration and ROI.
- Create and oversee a complex annual budget of approximately $5M.
- Provide strategic direction to the Membership/Fundraising Agency of Record for development of marketing and advertising specific to audience identification, memberships, and VIP products.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
JOB EXPERIENCE
- Five years of leadership experience mentoring a team of at least five people required
- Three years’ experience managing a large, complex budget required
- Seven years of experience in progressive, consumer-facing marketing including membership programs, nonprofit mass market fundraising, loyalty programs, and prospect acquisition required
- Experience overseeing a comprehensive VIP program preferred
- Experience with database and CRM systems preferred
- Demonstrated success in audience cultivation across a variety of mediums
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- In marketing, non-profit management, business or related field preferred
- Valid driver license
