Human Resources Communications Intern

We are looking for a Human Resources Communications Intern to work with our HR Talent team at Sauder Woodworking. There are several project opportunities this summer to help grow your skills and provide a significant impact on the organization. Some potential projects are:

  • Working with our Talent Attraction and Sourcing Specialist to create strategies for employer branding.
  • Creating engaging social media posts for Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter. Monitor post insights and engagement.
  • Supporting internal communications. Create visual graphics for our breakroom TVs, draft written communications like emails, serve as a proof-reader for other communication outlets, facilitate approvals.
  • Disseminating communications to organization via standard operating procedures. Channels include email, HR system site and notifications, SharePoint, bulletin boards, and TVs.
  • Coordinating meetings. Assist in planning and scheduling events, meetings, and interviews. Specifically, prepare for onboarding training and coordinate meetings for summer intern cohort. 
  • Creating training documents and slides.
  • Reporting and analysis. Help with analyzing a variety of data and cleaning up data for reports. Auditing the data and reports to ensure accurate information. Assist in preparation of monthly HR dashboards.

Sauder internship programs are designed to run 10-12 weeks from May to August. We aim to provide valuable experiences for all interns and the departments they are assigned to. Each intern will take the lead on a project (or projects) for the summer and present to other interns, internship supervisors, and executives at the end of the summer.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION: 

  • Strong writing skills are required (writing samples requested)
  • Ability to condense information into visual communications
  • Good eye for design
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Canva, and SharePoint a plus
  • Organized and highly detail oriented
  • Learns quickly and works well in a team
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing needs and assignments
  • Come with self-motivation and a desire to get things done
  • Positive attitude and a healthy sense of humility
  • Current college/university student
