POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the daily maintenance operations in a fast-paced food production environment, ensuring the safe and efficient performance of equipment, adherence to regulatory standards, and minimal downtime. This role involves supervising a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing improvements to support production goals. The Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in upholding safety, quality, and efficiency standards, supporting production line maintenance in alignment with the company's objectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise and manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Review and approve timecards and vacation requests.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols and company policies within the maintenance team.
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to minimize production downtime.
- Coordinate with the production and sanitation teams to prioritize and schedule repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP) and maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify and resolve potential safety or operational issues.
- Prepare and maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and relevant documentation.
- Ensure accuracy of technician work orders. Work orders should include all spare parts and materials used, as well as thorough and accurate descriptions of work completed.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED; associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role in a food production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with troubleshooting expertise.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and inventory management.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, including HACCP and GMP.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS software.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Availability to go to company sponsored training to comprehend and apply the lessons learned.
