Job Title: Trainee – Community Impact 

Job Summary: The Community Impact Trainee will support Community Relations efforts in the Community Impact department by assisting with research, coordination, execution, and documentation of programs and activities that are tied to the department’s strategic priority areas and advance the goals of the Royals Community Impact department. 

 

Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in coordinating and executing programs and events both in-stadium and outside the stadium. 
  • Assist with organizing and tracking program details, including building timelines, event execution and communication plans. 
  • Participate in and actively contribute to the success of Community Impact events, including events for both The Kansas City Royals Foundation and Urban Youth Academy. 
  • Help build and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners by learning about their needs to inform program recommendations. 
  • Host nonprofit organizations at Royals home games to amplify their work while also furthering our team and Club’s strategic priorities. 
  • Serve as the gameday point of contact and greeter for honorees in both the Buck O’Neil Legacy and Salute to Service Seats. 
  • Support Community Impact’s internal and external communication strategy by supporting content creation through ideation and effective documentation of in-stadium and out-of- stadium events. 
  • Assist in maintaining social media organizational calendar. 
  • Support fundraising tasks for The Kansas City Royals Foundation and Urban Youth Academy, such as solicitation of silent auction items, donation acknowledgement letters, etc. 
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the department. 

 

Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required: 

  • Completion of or actively pursuing a degree in a related program or field is preferred, or relevant work experience. 
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills 
  • Ability to successfully plan and execute programs/events 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and maintain flexibility when working on multiple projects with competing deadlines 
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends, and evenings as needed 
  • Ability to work February through 1-2 weeks following the end of the 2025 Royals baseball season. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift items weighing as much as 15 pounds 
  • Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of workday 
  • Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone 
  • Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times 
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus 
  • Must be comfortable navigating the facility to access the office, concourse, etc. 
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling
