What the job is all about:
- Software Development
- Work with R&D developers to design, write, edit, and test software coding as per the specifications or guidelines.
- Become proficient with the use of microprocessor emulators, scopes, logic analyzers, and television test equipment.
- Advise and make recommendations to management on matters relating to software development to provide them with an improved basis for decision-making and planning.
- Respond to internal issues regarding software as assigned.
- Customer Support
- Assist current members to address escalations and provide on-site support.
- Manage escalation tickets.
- Coordinate between engineering, tech support, and customers.
- Travel to customer sites to debug, diagnose, and solve customer issues.
- Fix bugs, with a special focus on Carbonite.
- Reproduce, diagnose, and understand customer issues from the Ottawa lab.
- Provide on-call support with per diem.
- Training
- Provide training to Technical Support staff on technical issues related to the product.
- Act as an occasional trainer for existing and potential customers on an as required basis.
- Become an expert in Ross Video products. This expertise will be gained through a review of the current documentation, direct contact with the product itself and working with the technical personnel.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Who you are:
- Strong JAVA/ C coding skills
- Above average PC/Windows computer skills.
- Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Computer Science or in a related area with appropriate experience.
- Knowledge of television production would be very useful.
- Knowledge of low level and/or real time programming would be an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and observational skills.
- Strong problem solving skills
- Organized and very detail orientated.
- Self-starter, quick learner and are able to work with minimum supervision in meeting schedules and project deadlines.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Previous experience working in a development group is an asset.
- A valid driver’s license
- A valid passport
- Frequent travel on short notice.
