The Engineering Technician role will utilize skills and experience to participate in development and test of leading-edge platforms that power live video production. As a Technician within the Hyperconverged team, you will further advance the Ross industry leading Ultrix product family. Successful candidates will have serious technical chops to pair with a "find a way" attitude in order to harness the full power of themselves and their teammates in solving unique and challenging technical problems in a supportive, high-energy and dynamic work environment.

What the job is all about:

  • Manages and maintains the product development lab including: organization, HW inventory, network configurations, cleanliness, and ensuring equipment remains in good working order.
  • Work closely with the engineering group to validate prototype & preproduction designs to ensure specifications are met
  • HW physical layer evaluation & signal content analysis
  • SW control system tests including general operation, GUI validation, automation/scripting, and workflow analysis
  • System operation and network configuration requirements (performance analysis and integration)
  • Develop test setups necessary to replicate issues faced by customers, manufacturing, PV, and tech support
  • Provide hands-on fabrication and rework assistance including frame assembly, PCB rework, and cabling
  • Evaluate systems for thermal performance under various operational configurations
  • Manage & document test results and bug status
  • Drives bug triage and follow-up activities
  • Screens bugs reported by PV and Tech Support
  • Work with PV to develop and perform nightly regression SW tests and report on overall system performance trends
  • Become an expert in Ross Video products - this expertise will be gained through a review of the current documentation, direct contact with the product itself, and working with the technical personnel

 

Who you are:

  • Above average PC/Windows/Linux computer skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Visio with advanced VBA authoring a plus
  • Basic networking configuration & maintenance
  • IP addressing, routing, protocols & setup (switch / server configuration a plus)
  • Network analysis and capture tools a plus (e.g. Wireshark, Fluke LinkRunner, etc)
  • Experience in broadcast / video workflow and associated technologies
  • Good working experience of the following pieces of test equipment:  oscilloscope, network analyzer, WFM, & JBERT
  • Knowledge of SDI, AES, and associated SMPTE standards
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python/Tcl/Bash/DOS
  • Familiarity with UI test automation a plus (e.g. AutoIT, Selenium, etc)
  • Surface mount and through-hole soldering experience
  • Degree or certifification in Electronic Technology
  • Minimum 5 years experience with expertise as an electronics technician
  • Broadcast engineering experience strongly preferred
  • Past experience in Product Development is an asset
