Ross Video is looking for a Product Security Architect, Linux. This role’s mission is to ensure that the 50+ different Ross Video products that use Linux are securely configured, optimally performant, and up to date with security patches while also defending against supply chain attacks. Whoever fills this position must be able to influence colleagues’ actions without formal authority.

 

The position can be performed remotely, though some time at our Ottawa HQ will be necessary.

What the job is all about:

    • Gathering and analysing requirements from development teams for Linux targeted at platforms that range from ARM-based embedded systems thru x86-based platform systems to cloud-hosted compute instances.
    • Establishing the trustworthiness of package repositories and packages used in our products.
    • Where needed, setting up and maintaining private repositories to serve trusted packages into our system configuration process.
    • Hardening distros by applying CIS benchmarks.
    • Linux System Performance Tuning.
    • Regular production of fully security patched distros for our product teams for both platform and embedded targets.
    • Design, implement and maintain processes for field security updates.
    • Automated configuration management of our fleet of Linux servers used in product development to comply with centrally defined information security standards.
    • Define and promulgate guidelines for secure operation of our Linux based systems.
    • Stay up-to-date on the security issues of the Linux distros we use

 

Who you are:

  • 5 years’ Linux administrator experience with a variety of distros (CentOS, Fedora, Ubuntu, Amazon Linux 2, Embedded)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or comparable
  • Hands-on experience with embedded Linux authoring tools such as BuildRoot and Yocto
  • Practiced in configuration management and change control, experienced with tools such as Chef, Puppet, and Ansible.
  • Expertise in Linux Device Drivers Model

 

Bonus points if you have the following:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or comparable
  • Security Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CSSP
  • Recognized as an authority with a high reputation score in online Linux forums such as AskUbuntu, and YoctoProject.
  • Experience with HPC and FPGA build infrastructures
