Co-Responder: Licensed Clinician

The full continuum of River Edge Behavioral Health services provides state-of-the-art treatment and support services for more than 13,000 children, youth, families, and adults annually, who experience mental illness, addiction, co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities.
The Co-Responder Clinician will work in close partnership with Macon Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, responding to calls involving people experiencing symptoms of mental illness, substance use disorders or co-occurring behavioral health conditions to de-escalate presenting symptoms and/or current stressors, resolve crises and link individuals and their loved ones to most appropriate community-based care and support. Co-responders help identify community resources, alternate options, and community support to meet needs and desires identified by the individual.
Co-responder services are a partnership between Macon-Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and River Edge Behavioral Health. Co-Responder services aim to more appropriately serve individuals with behavioral health conditions and reduce overall emergency services use.

Duties and Responsibilities
-
Respond to 911 calls involving behavioral health crises, provide evaluations, crisis interventions, referrals and linkage to resources for individuals not placed under arrest

Provide case management services, behavioral health assessments, and crisis intervention as needed or assigned as part of response to behavioral health related 911 calls

Coordinate individual's use of needed services and community resources

Coordinate behavioral health related medical and/or psychiatric needs of clients with psychiatrists, nurses, and other medical sources as part of crisis resolution

Maintain accurate and timely clinical records

Participate in team/department meetings, in-services, and supervisory sessions as required

Complete 1013 or 2013 evaluations in the community while responding to behavioral health related 911 calls

Maintain a trauma informed and motivational interviewing approach to wellbeing

Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Competencies
-
Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma informed principles and practices

Knowledge of community resources
-
Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately

Familiarity with the DSM-V and diagnostic techniques

Effective listening, de-escalation as well as verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field. Current license as a LCSW, LPC, OR LMFT in the State of Georgia, or master's with LAPC, LMSW, or LAMFT and ability to obtain LPC/LCSW/LMFT licensure within 3 months of hire in the State of Georgia.

Minimum of two years' experience in clinical social work. Experience working with moderate to severe and persistently mentally ill populations.

Must have valid driver's license and good driving record
WORKING CONDITIONS: Some local travel required. The Co-Responder must operate River Edge vehicle and/or ride with Macon-Bibb Sheriff's deputies in coordination with 911 response to mental health dispatches. Flexible work schedule.
