Tax Manager

The Tax Manager performs professional-level duties to ensure effective and efficient delivery of quality tax services by preparing and analyzing tax records and reports, processing local, state, and federal tax returns, preparing claims for tax refunds, completing statistical and financial reports, maintaining tax records, preparing miscellaneous tax studies, reconciliations, journal entries, and records, keeping senior management informed of area activities and significant problems, providing assistance, training, supervision, and review regarding the work of other Tax Accountants, and participating in business development and client care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Applies in-depth knowledge of individual and business taxation principles and attains specialized knowledge in at least 2 areas of individual or business taxation.
- Review and preparation of individual and business taxes (1040, 1041, 1120, 1120S, and 1065).
- Initiates and reviews consulting engagements.
- Represents clients during tax exams; understands appeal and settlement process, penalties and interest.
- Responsible for billing and collections on assigned clients.
- Initiates clients contact for proactive services; maintains professional. relationships with assigned clients; develops additional services from existing clients.
- Supervises and mentors' other accountants to develop their skills and expertise
- Assists the department Principals in the strategic development of the department.
- Presents in-house training on basic tax topics.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- In-depth knowledge of individual and business taxation principles, estates and trusts, and specialized knowledge in at least 2 areas of individual or business taxation.
- General knowledge of payroll tax issues that may impact assigned clients.
- Detailed knowledge of property taxes, excise taxes applicable to assigned clients.
- Familiar with general bookkeeping packages (Peachtree and/or QuickBooks); can make recommendations to client's base on their needs.
- Proficient with Profx and AuditVision/linking techniques.
- Ability and initiative to develop improvements to existing systems and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA Certified, current license required.
- A minimum of five years' work experience in public accounting.
- Non-Profit experience required.
- Experience supervising and mentoring other tax accountants.
- Experience with client relationship and engagement management.

The potential annualized pay range for this position is $104,621 - $156,932. We make compensation offers within the range based on a range of individual factors, including but not limited to location, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, business needs, and applicable employment laws. These factors may also be taken into consideration to offer above or below the pay range.
