YouTube Producer - Task & Purpose

The Opportunity

Recurrent Military is looking to hire a full-time video producer for the Task & Purpose YouTube Channel. The T&P Video Producer will oversee the writing, fact-checking, production, video editing, delivery and management of all T&P YouTube videos. We are seeking an organized, experienced and multi-faceted producer to manage a team of writers, editors and other technicians as well as to liaise between various departments of Recurrent Military. 

T&P YouTube has just under 2 million subscribers and averages over 1 million views per video. As our subscriber base continues to grow, this position will be essential in maintaining an organized and efficient workflow while ensuring the content (tone, format, quality, etc.) stays true to the elements that brought us to 2 million subscribers. 

T&P Video Producer will align managerial and procedural duties through the Recurrent Military Head of Production and creative/content alignment via Task & Purpose’s Editor in Chief. 

The Responsibilities

• Maintain and adhere to prep, production and posting schedule of two videos a week.

• Manage flow of pitches, ideas, scripts and fact-checking between contracted writers, the editorial team, video crew and hosts. 

• Manage and maintain a steady rotation of military hosts by casting and coordination. 

• Oversee writing staff by assigning scripts, dictating due dates and managing personnel. 

• Continually assess new writing and hosting talent to consider for our roster. 

• Write one to two scripts per month.

• Maintain production schedule such that scripting, fact-checking, casting, shooting, editing, reviews and delivery align with the posting schedule of two videos a week. 

• Maintain production budget in accordance with Head of Production guidelines. 

• Track YouTube analytics and audience data to report and apply to creative execution.

• Track and report YouTube financial data and trends and forecast future earnings.

• Fact check and QC all video components for absolute accuracy.

• Maintain ownership over YouTube page operations (posting, titling, tagging, boosting/SEO, rights issues, etc)

• Engage with T&P audience through YouTube comments (curating when needed); and through the Task & Purpose Discord channel. 

The Qualifications

• Experience covering the U.S. military and/or working within the defense and industry beat. 

• Veterans are highly encouraged to apply 

• Must have a strong familiarity with military operations & tech, global defense and geopolitics, military history and current events. 

• At least five years of professional experience in journalism and video production. Managerial experience is required. 

• Working knowledge of Adobe Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, and related programs.) 

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to manage multi-level stakeholders to elicit cohesion and adherence to timelines and guidelines.
