What You’ll Do:
The Information Security Intern will assist in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our
organization's information assets. This position will work under the direction of the Information Security Officer
to support various security initiatives and projects aimed at protecting Royal's systems, networks, and data from potential threats.

Our Commitment To You:
- Compensation: $18.99 - 21.91 (candidates with significant related experience may be higher)
Intern Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Gather key metrics from various security solutions, develop dashboards and reports to present KPIs, and evaluate security data via monitoring platforms to escalate events and recommend remediation efforts.
- Promote security awareness across the organization, participate in security audits and assessments, assist in developing documentation for security standards and procedures, and conduct risk assessments.
- Research threats and vulnerabilities, monitor cyber industry news, assess their impact on the organization, and assist with evaluating security solutions.
- Meet performance management goals, comply with the Bank Secrecy Act, and communicate Royal Credit Union's core purpose, values, and organizational culture daily.
What Makes You A Great Fit:

Enrolled at a University or Technical College throughout the length of the internship, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or other related field.
- Strong interest in information security, with a desire to learn new technologies and develop skills, and a basic understanding of networking concepts, operating systems, and common security technologies.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make decisions on complex daily work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality materials and data entry.
- Strong sense of customer service, ability to maintain confidentiality, and effective collaboration with team members across the department and organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams) and readily learns new technologies, using digital solutions on various devices.

Coursework in the field of Information Security
- Experience working/volunteering/participating on a team or club while balancing schoolwork
Work Schedule:
- Working approximately 12-15 hours per week during the school year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer. Generally working variable hours between 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday based on class schedule.
- Must be able to work onsite at Royal Credit Union Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI throughout the school year and during breaks.
- This is a limited term, non-benefit eligible, position that will go from May 2025 through May 2026.
- Must be able to commit to the 12-month internship.
Training:
- Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.
- Foundation Training covers fundamental information about Royal’s culture and core values which sets the stage for team members to be successful within our organization.
