Objective / Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is overseeing the distribution facility operation with a focus on optimizing productivity and efficiency while maintaining robust safety and quality standards. Fulfills management and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, applicable laws, and regulations.

 

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below.  

 Operations:

  • Oversees activities of the warehouse departments to include production and shipping and receiving.
  • Leads the development of robust reporting and utilizes reporting and analytics to drive productivity and operational efficiencies to identify areas for improvement.
  • Supports the implementation and ongoing enhancement of WMS systems in the facility, including optimizing processes and ways of working to ensure the operation realizes the full system benefits.
  • Coordinate year end physical inventory.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Dept. to ensure proper scheduling and execution of preventative maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned by General Manager.

 

Leadership:

  • Works alongside the General Manager to plan, develop, implement, and enforce facility policies and goals.
  • Participates and promotes participation in facility employee engagement and community outreach events.
  • Builds, develops, and manages operational leadership teams on identification and prioritization of personnel, plant equipment, and system development needs.
  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, termination, and training employees/supervisors; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Establish standards for employee performance metrics and training requirements for the leadership team to ensure continuous improvement of people, process, equipment, and systems.
  • Ensures proper protocol is established and adhered to in the event of incidents pertaining to employee conflict, product damage, property damage, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provides full shift coverage in the event of a direct subordinates scheduled absence.
  • Assists General Manager with strategic project initiatives.

 

Quality Compliance:

  • Support and enforce facility ISO requirements, including timeliness of CAR, R&O, and audit submissions.
  • Actively lead Managers/Supervisors in initiatives to determine the root cause of problems and establish systems to prevent the problems from reoccurring.
  • Ensure operational departments complete annual reviews of process documents that impact the QMS.
  • Perform internal process audits.
  • Assists with establishing departmental Quality Objectives.

 

HSE Compliance:

  • Instills a culture of safety at the facility and ensures the facility meets all Company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Assists with timely communication for incident investigation and reporting.
  • Ensures the facility meets all environment requirements including those of Operation Clean Sweep.

 

Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications

  1. Education:
    1. Bachelor’s Degree – preferred.
    2. Minimum of 10 years of related experience in a similar role, including people management; responsibility to include the following:
  • Staff planning; decision-making; facilitating process improvement; taking responsibility for subordinates’ activities.
  • Provides regular performance feedback.
  • Continually works to improve supervisory skills.
  • Treats people with respect; works with integrity and upholds organizational values.
  • Business Acumen to include the understanding of business implications of decisions.
  • Works within approved budget.
  • Contributes to profit and revenue.
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.
  1. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  2. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  3. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  4. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and experience using warehouse management systems; order processing systems; business intelligence tools (i.e., Tableau, Microsoft BI), and be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  5. Capable of developing project plans and communicating changes and progress.
  6. Demonstrated leadership capabilities; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality within the facility.
  7. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

 

Work Environment / Conditions

The work environment/conditions described herein are representative of those that an incumbent may experience, and therefore must be adaptable to.

  1. This job operates in both a warehouse and clerical office setting and includes regular supervision of full campus both interior and exterior of the building structure.
  2. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  3. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
  4. Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, with/or without the use of a private office.
  5. On occasion, the duties may require working in outdoor environments and are therefore, subject to the outdoor climate conditions.
  6. Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.
  7. All injuries regardless of severity must be reported to your Manager and the Safety Dept. immediately.

  2. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to travel by foot, forklift, golf cart, or other means of transportation which require sitting, waiting, and standing for long and short periods of time.
  3. On a rare occasion, the duties may include the necessity to ascend and descend ladders and stairs.
  4. On occasion, the duties may require bending, squatting, crawling, and reaching, and working in heights above 75 feet from ground level.
  5. This role requires the ability to lift moderately heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
  6. Physical presence in the warehouse should comprise of approximately 75% of a standard workday.
