Installation Technician - System Builder
The Install Tech - System Builder is an experienced AV technician that meets the criteria of a Radiant Level II Install Technician but also has an advanced knowledge of AV rack build skills, an especially keen eye for details, exceptional documentation and communication skills, and a customer service mentality. They understand the flow of projects through our system and are a natural fit with our Radiant Core Values.
Technical Skills – The Technician II - System Builder is expected to have and maintain technical skills to prepare projects prior to installation in a manner that makes the installation and commissioning of systems more effective. They must also be capable of contributing to project installation on-site when needed. To this end, System Builder’s must have the following technical skills and certifications:
- CTS Certification
- Basic Networking Skills – (System Builder should be able to connect to networked devices and set basic networking protocols on those devices.)
- Crestron Configuration Capabilities (System Builder should be able to log into all Crestron devices, load firmware, configure IP addresses and route signals.)
- Extron configuration capabilities – (System Builder should be able to connect to devices, update firmware, and set basic configurations)
- Audio Processing Capabilities - (System Builder should be capable of logging into all audio processors from Biamp, QSC, ClearOne, and Polycom, updating firmware, configuring IP addresses, and performing basic DSP routing.).
- Installation & Rack building Skills (System Builder should be capable of demonstrating superior knowledge of equipment mounting, rack building, terminations and equipment testing.)
- Summary of Level II Technician expectations-
- General and well-rounded understanding of the basics of audio-visual system installations including and not limited to; pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting displays, mounting projectors and associated devices, as well as basic metal fabrication and rigging skills.
- Mentor and Train Level I technicians.
Project Responsibility – System Building is the preparation engine for projects in our system. Employee will work with Project Management, Engineering, and other key stakeholders to ensure projects are ready for installation. Below are the responsibilities associated with this position.
- Review project documentation (Shop Drawings, Bill of Materials and Project Scope) prior to System Building.
- Provide quality first on all rack builds and other parts of system build.
- Upon assignment to a project, meet with Project Team to discuss details and ensure accuracy of documentation.
- Think critically to ensure accuracy of designs based on project scope.
- Clearly communicate when issues arise during system build and be able to collaborate with appropriate team members to propose solutions.
- Work with Engineer to ensure pre-commissioning completion in respect to project timeline.
- Notify project stakeholders when System Build is complete, and project is ready for installation.
- Organize and prioritize workload to ensure a proactive approach is taken to keep system build work on schedule in relation to the overall timeline of projects.
- Dispatch to project jobsites as needed to assist in project completion of installation or system build.
- Assist the Logistics Coordinator in Warehouse Management as required.
