Job Overview:
Greet and assist guests with golfing equipment. Clean, store, unload, and transport the equipment within the resort. Clean and prepare golf cart for use. Pick up supplies and merchandise for the golf shop. May make miscellaneous repairs of golfer’s equipment. Daily set up of driving range, bag storage, area staging area. Retrieve range balls, baskets, and clean range balls. Keep work area clean and tidy. May assist other personnel in the golf shop. Maintain and secure bag room area; alert to possibility of theft and/or misplacement of guest’s or company equipment. Park and retrieve cars for golfers. Perform all other routine duties and related work as required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Greet and welcome customers following resort vehicle standards and procedures; answer questions regarding the resort golf courses and facilities.
- Load and unload golf bags from cars and golf carts.
- Park and retrieve vehicles for golfers.
- Clean and polish guest’s shoes.
- Replace golf spikes and shoelaces as needed.
- Maintain and clean rental golf shoes.
- Clean and store golf equipment for guests and homeowners; may also do minor repairs on clubs.
- Clean and store rental equipment.
- Clean, stock, and prepare golf carts for use; charge carts and report repair needs.
- Set up driving range; issue, retrieve, and wash range balls.
- Keep work area and locker room clean and tidy.
- Transport golf equipment within the resort at guest’s request.
- Offer guest amenities.
- Maintain and re-stock supplies and golf amenities.
- Maintain golf bag storage board; secure bag storage room, alert to the possibility of theft.
- Set up cart staging area.
- Engrave golf bag tag.
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Secondary Job Functions:
- Assist in the golf shop or locker room as needed.
- Assist in coordinating golf tournaments.
- Pick up supplies and merchandise for the golf shop.
Working Conditions:
- Under cover in cart barn and storage area.
- Outdoors in various weather conditions.
Work Hours:
- Must be able to work shift and days determined by the manager.
- Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when needed.
Equipment Use:
- Operate electric golf carts or utility carts, gas carts or flatbeds.
- Range cart with ball picker/trailer
- Electric ball washer
- Bag tag engraver
- Battery charger for golf carts
- Radio and telephone
- Operate guest vehicles with standard or automatic shift
Mental and Physical Demands:
- Able to stand and walk during most of shift.
- Lift and carry golf bags weighing up to or more than 50lbs.
- Load and unload golf bags weighing up to or more than 50lbs from guest vehicles.
- Lift and carry buckets of range balls and cases of water weighing up to 25lbs.
- Bend, reach to pick up golf bags weighing up to or more than 50lbs.
- Must be able to deal with irate guests.
Communication Demands:
- Must have the ability to communicate verbally with employees, managers and guests/clients.
- Must have the ability to communicate over the phone or on the radio.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Must have valid driver’s license to valet guest vehicles.
- Must have acceptable traffic abstract (no moving violation in the past 3 years).
- Read names of golfers, engrave bag tags.
- Must be pleasant, smiling and friendly
- Knowledgeable in the game of golf and resort golf courses, preferred.
