Human Resources Generalist

 

Primary Responsibilities: The Human Resources Generalist performs all human resources related duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: recruitment, employee relations, training, and employment.  The Human Resources Generalist will take the lead to develop, coordinate and execute all recruiting plans, employ sourcing strategies and resources as well as develop new, creative recruiting ideas.  Efficiently and effective fill open positions, complete all administrative and record-keeping processes.  Assist and provide support for all other areas of Human Resources. Must remain current in federal and state laws and regulations and assure company compliance. 
 

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Responsible for managing and fulfillment of recruitment needs for Mauna Kea Resort
  2. Review and process all job requisitions, efficiently and effectively filling the positions.
  3. Accept and review applications, interview applicants, verify information and contact references and refer for job openings.
  4. Develop, coordinate and execute the recruiting and interviewing plan for each position. 
  5. Use established resources and strategies and develop and recommend new and creative recruiting ideas.
  6. Create contacts internally and externally to find the ideal candidates. 
  7. Plan and coordinate pre-employment and random drug testing according to company policy.
  8. Prepare offer letters; coordinate/schedule off-island interviews or relocations; process moving expenses for reimbursement.
  9. Receive and process applicable documents for new hires, transfers, and terminations and input employee information in human resources and payroll programs.
  10. Ensure that evaluation forms for all new hires are completed and received timely.
  11. Process ads, attend job fairs, and coordinate career days/job shadows.
  12. Research, make recommendations and determine the budget for employment processes.
  13. Respond to correspondence or inquiries regarding employment.
  14. Maintain employee records and applicable hiring documents, coordinating period audits to ensure compliance.
  15. Develop and complete employment-related reports and surveys.
  16. Review and update employment policies and record keeping ensuring compliance with state and federal employment laws and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  17. Maintain I-9 documentation, ensuring that reporting and retention requirements are met; monitor and arrange for revalidations as necessary.
  18. Assist in the orientation of new employees, and training programs were needed to include conducting observations as required.
  19. Input, track and manage Purchase Orders according to company procedures.
  20. Able to represent the Human Resources Office and the Resort professionally at all times.
  21. Demonstrate team orientation, positive attitude, respect, and a high degree of confidentiality.
  22. Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  23. Ensure company procedures are followed for all employees and other human resources processes.
  24. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
  25. Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

Other Duties:

  1. Administer the hotel’s employee recognition program.
  2. Assist in the coordination of employee related events such as Charity Walk, Employee's Holiday Party and other company sponsored events.
  3. Assist other positions in the department.
  4. Perform other related duties as assigned or required. 

Working Conditions:

  1. Normal office setting with minimal exposure to outdoor working conditions.
  2. Must be able to occasionally drive to golf course or other off property locations as required.

Work Hours:

  1. Must be able to work hours set by the Director of Human Resources.
  2. Must be able to work in excess of 50 hours per week, evenings or weekends as needed.

Mental and Physical Demands:

  1. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  2. Must be able to sit at a desk for the full duration.
  3. Must be able to walk throughout the hotel.
  4. Must be able to demonstrate a cooperative team spirit, positive attitude, respect towards diversity, and a high regard for confidentiality.

Communication Demands:

  1. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Ability to write manual, memos, policies and procedures.

Ability to do presentations in front of small or large groups Ability to conduct training presentations to groups.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  1. College degree in human resources or related field.
  2. Two years of related work experience in Human Resources.
  3. Must be able to service both internal and external guests with sincere warmth and care.
  4. Detail-oriented and ability to handle several projects at one time.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.
