Produce Associate
Summary
The Produce Associate are primarily responsible for maintaining the produce section remaining clean, orderly, and well stocked. This position is also responsible for proper receiving and handling of produce for the store.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to
- Ensure the work area is clean, safe, and organized at all times.
- Stocking shelves with fresh produce items such as fruits and vegetables.
- Stock refrigerated cases with items such as juices, salads, and dressings.
- Verify that product descriptions and point-of-purchase (POP) displays match the merchandise.
- Create or update POP displays and signage as needed, and notify the section manager if POPs are not available.
- Clean and sort produce before putting them out for sale.
- Prepare leafy
- Slice fruits and vegetables according to customer requests or prepare them by weighing and packaging in plastic bags or containers.
- Oversee the production, quality control, and cleaning of baked sweet potato products or related items.
- Provide information to customers about different types of produce available.
- Help customers locate products using store directories, inventory lists, and computerized scanners.
- Other duties as instructed or assigned.

Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent preferred; at one year of experience in produce department preferred; knife skills for cutting, trimming, etc.; or any equivalent combination of formal training and/or experience which provided the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities thereof.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business data and effectively respond to the data. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, customers, employees, or others involved or associated in the warehouse section function.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts relevant to the role such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. General knowledge of basic accounting a plus.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
A valid health certificate or ability to obtain a certification is required for this position.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to interpret and comply with variety of instructions.
Knowledge and ability to maintain Health code standards.

Working Conditions
Work is conducted in a warehouse environment which may include, but is not limited to, varying temperatures, dust, and noise. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and is mandatory in designated areas and job tasks. Adherence to safety guidelines and protocols is mandatory. Employees are expected to report any unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
